BRUNSWICK RECORDS *Demo* 05944~ 1965 Original MAROON LABLE issue Mod beat bands in the early 60's were growing in with the culture, but few could have been more leading than following, than The WHO. Other fashionable Mod groups The Creation, Action, Poets and Birds didn't get the hit records of course, The Small Faces were probably their closest 'peers' as such. The single that REALLY put them firmly into the public earhole was this one: "MY GENERATION" - a no holds barred dynamic belter, brash and controversial. Indeed the BBC sought to 'ban' them from their airwaves because Roger's drug enabled stutter mocked the afflicted! The record was known though, Radio Caroline and Radio London pirate broadcasters had listeners straining by the wireless to get a load of this tremendous revolutionary sound. Now The Beatles and Merseybeat had heavy duty rivals other than Mick Jagger's crew!
This is the megarare DEMONSTRATION COPY which was distributed to DJs and reviewers. The song was recorded, mastered, and a few cut as a limited run to be sent for review - before demand would require stock copies be pressed for a salivating public mass! "I HOPE I DIE BEFORE I GET OLD" There's no more emphatic, memorable line in pop history!
