Description
THE WHO - MAXIMUM R & B. 2 L.P SET.
"REACTION" LABEL, SERIAL PRJK 905
Released in 1986, This 2 record set features 33 tracks recorded from the studio soundboard. It's an extremely well presented album, featuring a "deluxe" colour cover, silver "Reaction" centre labels and a single sided insert with the album title on it and a witty explanation of the song's origins, signed "Silas Stingy, M.B.E." It features the track "Bald Headed Woman", which was the B side to "I Can't Explain" and had Jimmy Page playing lead guitar instead of Pete Townshend. It also has the two Rolling Stone's covers "The Last Time" and Under My Thumb" which The Who recorded in support of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, while they were in jail facing drugs charges. The front cover features the cartoon images of the Band which have appeared over the years on various sleeves, while the back cover has the famous "target" motif and tracklistings. It also states that "None of the 33 tracks contained herein have been previously presented in an American Album. They are all studio recordings." You can see the tracklistings on the photo, so I will just give the grading's.
The cover is a glossy thick card. Clean, faintest of corner ding's, sharp opening edges. Excellent. The paper insert is also very clean with a very faint crease in the top right corner. I have tried to pick it up in the photo, very minor. The two records are housed in anti-static polythene. They are both in superb condition. No scratches, No surface marks. Both shiny and flat. The centre labels are very clean, with only one faint spindle mark on sides 1 and 3. Excellent.
It's a nice one to add to your collection, definitely a "keeper's" copy. I am going to be listing LOTS of Who records, many first pressings and rarities in the near future, so please take a look at my other items.
