THE WHO - "Closer To Queen Mary"

Original USA pressing LP on Trade Mark Of Quality Records.  This is on colored vinyl, though it's a weird one. I'll call it green marbled or splatter vinyl, but the color is actually hard to see. Unless you hold it up to the light it looks like a regular dark LP that's slightly streaky around the edges. But when you do hold it up to light it looks green (I THINK; I'm colorblind), mottled with round dots or small blotches balls of other, darker colors. Thisw is around the edge, the closer you get to the center the less translucent it is - near the label it's not translucent at all.

I also have a red vinyl copy which is basically the same (same matrix numbers in the deadwax, same labels) though the color vinyl is bright and it's more transparent.

Cover is NM, still in the original shrinkwrap, with silver foil pig sticker. I know it doesn't show in my scans but silver it is. The slipsheet (original) in back is NM except it was once stabilized with tiny pieces of clear tape which have yellowed and now have detached from the cover. Slipsheet is still in place where it has always been. Also one tiny piece of clear tape stabilizing the shrinkwrap at opening (at bottom).

Labels are NM.

Record is basically NM as far as ear or scratches (there's really none) but I'll say NM-. BUT, on side two there's a group of bubbles in the vinyl, a small section coming out from the center margin, over an inch. They are feelable and seem like they'd cause a problem. And someone with a really super-expensive cartridge might think twice about playing it with that. But it played fine for me, with nothing but scattered light ticks. I did just play it through on my the cheap-o combo player I have by my computer and on that I could barely hear anything.

So an overall grade for the vinyl, taking into account the bubbles, is hard. I'll say that playwise, it's overall NM- but in the segmment with bubbles it's VG+. I think you'll be plased with the play - it was very enjoyable to me - I KNOW you'll be leased with the cool vinyl and gorgeous cover!

All records are original USA pressings - not recent reissues - unless noted.  Check out our Grading / Condition info.  NM (Near Mint) is usually my highest grade.  Labels are NM unless noted; and item has no writing, stamps, stickers, drillholes, or other noteworthy defects unless specifically noted or shown in photos otherwise.
