The White Stripes were an American alternative rock duo, formed in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. The group consisted of the songwriter Jack White (vocals, guitar, and keyboards) and drummer Meg White (drums and occasional vocals). Jack and Meg White were previously married to each other, but are now divorced. The White Stripes used a low-fidelity, do-it-yourself approach to writing and recording. Their music featured a melding of punk rock and blues influences and a raw simplicity of composition, arrangement, and performance. The duo was also noted for their fashion and design aesthetic which featured a simple color scheme of red, white, and black.
After a long hiatus, The White Stripes formally announced their professional split on February 2, 2011.
Icky Thump is the sixth and final studio album by The White Stripes.
The 180g vinyl edition contains alternate versions of both "Icky Thump" and "Rag and Bone". "Icky Thump" is a slightly different mix to the digital version and is also edited to be 14 seconds shorter. "Rag and Bone" is also a different mix but in addition contains totally different vocals for each verse (possibly the original guide vocals and there are no vocals from Meg) and is missing the harmonies from the last chorus.
The sound quality of the CD versions has been criticized for being mastered too loudly and with excessive peak limiting. Critics claim this results in clipping or "digital distortion" which can be heard as crackling, particularly during bass drum hits.
The vinyl version was mastered by Steve Hoffman. This special mono mix of Icky Thump was available on 180 gram vinyl for a short time to Third Man Vault Premium Account subscribers. It is now out of production and one of the 'holy grails' for all White Stripes fans due to the extremley limited number pressed.

This LP is being offered for sale in the same MINT condition it was received. It has been played only once to check the awesome mono sound and then carefully stored. Therefore you will receive this in the same condition as it was received by me. Vinyl is perfect. I opened the seal VERY carefully and tucked it under neatly. There are only light corner wear from it's original packing which is in contrast to many that suffered a far worse shipping fate. This one is VERY nice and probably about the best you will find for sale anywhere on eBay or elsewhere.
DUE TO THE ANTICIATED FINAL VALUE this will ship in the extra strong oversize box, and also will be sent via Australian Post Express International with an additional $300 insurance in case of loss or damage. RECORD GRADING:
ALL my records have been listened to, and are audibly and visually graded so that you can buy with confidence. The system I use is based on the US GOLDMINE system and is the most commonly used worldwide. Your order will include a grading sheet which will note anything of significance. I do try to honestly and conservatively grade my vinyl but please let me know if you disagree.
Still Sealed (SS): Record has never been opened. A record that has never been opened is assumed to be as new. However as it can't be listened to or graded there is no real certainty as to its condition.
Near Mint (NM): No surface noise. A nearly perfect record. There may be one or two small inaudible defects. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other sights of slight handling. An LP jacket should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect. No cut-out holes, either.
Near Mint (NM-): No surface noise. A record that should play mint but has a few slight visible marks. The album will have as much luster as an NM, there just may be some scuffs from the sleeve or very light scratches that shouldn't be audible. An NM- album cover subjectively fits somewhere in between VG+ and NM.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Signs of wear but no significant surface noise. A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect one’s listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam-split. An LP jacket may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise evident on playing, especially in soft passages, and during a song's intro and fade, but never overpowers the music. Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, just two or three of them.
Good (G): Significant surface noise, scratches that will produce noise, but will play without skipping. Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play though without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. A jacket or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the subject.
Poor (P), or Fair (F): Won't play through without skipping or repeating. The record is cracked, badly warped, and won’t play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP jacket barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon.
