Description
You are bidding on an original first press of the classic 1969 album The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground.
The sleeve is the original uncensored version. It is a stereo pressing with the BMI credit. The matrix numbers in the runout are SE-4617 SIDE-1 MGS-1824 REV FINAL and SE-4617 SIDE-2 MGS-1825 REV FINAL. It is the 'closet' mix that is only found on the very early pressings of this album.
The sleeve is in superb condition. There are very tiny 'bump' creases to the top corners. Otherwise the sleeve is absolutely perfect. The spine is strong and square. There is no ringwear. The sleeve is very clean. It is one of the best 1960s copies of this sleeve you will find. Overall I would grade it as Mint Minus.
The vinyl is visually graded as Excellent Plus. It retains its original glossy sheen and is virtually unmarked.
I have played the record on a high quality turntable and would grade the sound as Excellent Minus. There is a little surface noise and a few slight pops. It is still a wonderful sounding record.
The blue and gold MGM Records labels are graded as Excellent. There is a little spindle wear and they are very clean.
The record come with what might be the original white poly-lined inner sleeve. It is is Excellent condition.
This is probably one of the best first pressings around.
The photos are of the actual record that you are bidding on.
Please check out my other auctions as I am listing first and early pressings of all five Velvet Underground studio albums and Live At Max's Kansas City.
The record will be send in a very strong mailer and will be very well protected.
