Up for an auction is the debut album The Velvet Underground & Nico, released in 1967 on Verve Records. This is a very early copy whose back cover contains a fully visible image of Eric Emerson. This image on the cover is uncensored and has the name "1st State Torso cover". Subsequently, this image was covered with a black sticker first and then fully airbrushed. This debut album is popular not only, because it made a colossal impact on the development of alternative rock, but also due to the fact that it was produced by Andy Warhol, an icon figure in the pop art movement. The design of the album's cover is one of the most recognizable ones of all time. The cover design was developed by the art director and graphic designer Acy R. Lehman with the banana painted by Andy Warhol. The listed copy represents an example of the virgin banana sticker in an unpeeled condition, which happened thanks to the original shrink wrap that still remains on the cover. This outstanding copy was pressed in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

The Stereo Verve Records labels with the catalog number V6-5008, 1.25' pressing ring and a misprint timing on "I'll Be Your Mirror" indicating 2:01 instead of the correct timing of 2:10. The dead wax of the vinyl contains the matrix numbers V6-5008 SIDE-1 MGS-558-REV 1 3 BLOCK-LOOKING "S" SYMBOL ; V6-5008 SIDE-2 MGS-559 1 1 BLOCK-LOOKING "S" SYMBOL. The "S" symbol indicates the very early 1st pressing by MGM Records manufacturing division, Bloomfield, New Jersey. I grade the vinyl as Near Mint Minus as it only has a few very light scuffs from the inlay. The labels are in great condition with only some light spindle marks. The cover is Near Mint as it's in remarkable condition with only the spine having some light age spots and discoloration.
