Excerpts from the liner notes:

"Deep within the soul of every black man and every black woman there throbs the unquenchable beat of truth ... a tatoo as old as Mother Africa ... a message as universal as the furthest flung corner of space.

This album of poetic graphicalness is the most relevant portayal of that beat we have heard to date.

For the countless eons of his existence, man has sought to spell out with his art-forms the messages of his truths. But too much of what passes for art is inhibited by the incongruous conventions placed upon the artist by the very society to whom he seeks to relate, and this is particularly true with poetry (or what alleges to be poetry) and the people who write it.

This album of poetic veracity defied those archaic conventions and puts truth and poetry where it´s at.

Happily for posterity, toiday´s black poets and other artists have revolted. They have ripped away the lacy frills and whipped-cream toppings of pseudo sophistication and parlor-room etiquet to get down to the bare soul of it all.

This then, is the poetry of The Universal Messengers!"
