From the Pacific Northwest the origins of this band lie in The Viceroys (who also included Jim Valley
before he joined Paul Revere and The Raiders). They operated mainly around the Seattle-Tacoma area
of Washington state and were later known as The American Eagle. However, with the onset of the
psychedelic era Columbia decided to market them as The Surprise Package and as their management
were based in San Diego, they often played in California. The album is rarely seen and worthwhile
for the extended freaky title track which is not unlike In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida in structure.
