·       ORIGINAL, THICK CARDBOARD COVER (AMERICAN STYLE)

·       ON AN INTERESTING NOTE: THE ALBUM USES MONO COVER WITH THE SMALL STEREO STICKER AFFIXED TO THE FRONT PANEL. NORMALLY, THIS WOULD NOT BE A BIG DEAL, BEING THAT MOTOWN HAD BEEN "RECYCLING" THE UNUSED MONO COVERS WITH STEREO STICKERS FOR MANY OF THEIR STEREO PRESSINGS FOR MUCH OF THE DECADE, BUT FOR ONE LITTLE DETAIL:  STOCK MONO COPIES OF THIS ALBUM WERE NEVER RELEASED, THE ALBUM HAVING BEEN ISSUED ALMOST SIX MONTHS AFTER THE INDUSTRY-WIDE TRANSITION TO STEREO-ONLY FORMAT (MARCH 1968); EVEN THE WHITE LABEL PROMO-ONLY MONOS WERE PACKAGED IN STEREO COVERS; APPARENTLY, AT SOME POINT PRIOR TO MARCH 1968 MOTOWN HAD PLANS TO RELEASE THIS ALBUM IN MONO AND MONO COVERS HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE, BUT THOSE PLANS WERE PREEMPTED BY THE MANDATORY TRANSITION TO STEREO-ONLY FORMAT [NOTE: ACCORDING TO DISCOGS.COM, THE ALBUM WAS RELEASED IN AUGUST 1968; ACCORDING TO ALLMUSIC.COM, IT WAS RELEASED IN MARCH 1968; WE FIND THE DISCOGS INFORMATION MORE CREDIBLE].

·       FAIRLY THICK VINYL PRESSING On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least thick, and  10 being the thickest), we assess the thickness of the vinyl as 7.

Despite the backdrop in which this album was thrown together, (Holland, Dozier, Holland leaving Motown, Florence Ballard being sacked and Diana Ross raising her game as the lead singer) this album is probably better than their previous ones. It contains the singles "Reflections", "In & Out Of Love" and "Forever Came Today" and some pretty decent album tracks. I must, however complain about the inclusion of an awful cover of Bobbie Gentry's classic "Ode To Billy Joe". Why did Motown always insist on making the Supremes do these things? My guess is an attempt at a pan-demographic appeal, but to me, I prefer their more soulful songs to their covers of country hits. All in all, its not a bad album. I'm not normally a big fan of Motown albums from the 60s. I usually feel their album output doesn't match the quality of the singles, but this is quite a decent effort.

(a)          THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED IN ITS ORIGINAL PLASTIC BAGGY (TYPICALLY USED IN THE MID-60s) AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. (b)          The record is STILL in its original inner, perforated plastic baggy (sealed).

(c)           The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                               THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as  2 (front side) and 3 (back side)

-        Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-        Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging   (nothing significant).

-        Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the seams  (nothing significant)

-        Cover has a light "wrinkle" (crease)  in one of the corners.

-        Cover has one corner slightly worn / frayed / bent (just a beginning of the split seam)

-        Cover has some fraying/wear along the spine (nothing significant)
