VERY RARE SMITHS PROMOTIONAL BADGE ‘HEAVEN KNOWS I'M MISERABLE NOW’!
The Smiths manager Scott Pearing had a long history with Better Badges going back to the original days of the Rough Trade Label, when he used to wear the dk “too drunk to f**k” badge with the word 'busy' taped over the word 'drunk'. Thus badges were routinely commissioned from Better Badges for nearly all of the Smiths' Rough Trade singles and albums.
Many of these were promotional only badges whilst some were produced to sell on tours such as the set of ten produced for the ‘Meat is Murder’ tour and the various ones for ‘Queen is Dead’ tours.
Morrissey himself was closely involved with the design of the badges and specifically commissioned some such as the ‘Shoplifters’ Elvis badge.
This auction is for the promotional badge for ‘Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now’ produced circa 1982 and is a more ‘posterized’ version of the famous image of Viv Nicholson from the sleeve.
It is in near mint condition with only some very slight tarnishing to the rear. No fading or foxing to the front.
