Description
The Sidetrack: "Baby" 1970?, USA/No label #SMIS-1. Disc is M-, this was issued in a thick plain white jacket. Mega-rare private release by this ambitious NYC-area band has late 60s pop ideals but obvious early 70s progressive influences as well. The instrumentation on some of the tracks recalls UK bands like VDGG or Caravan but those bands would not have come up with these arrangements. The main vocalist has an unusual voice that reminds me of Paul Lupien of Bump, another band that tended towards the progressive side of things early-on. One track, "Wild Eyes" has found its way onto a compilation album but overall I think this LP is still unknown to most collectors. Genuinely rare, only a handful of these have ever turned up and the few that came from a band member had little noisy marks on the playing surface, as if dirt had gotten into the inner sleeves and was squeezed into the vinyl... this one is nice!

I pack/ship once a week, usually on Friday. I use sturdy cardboard boxes designed for shipping records, and I remove the disc from the cover to prevent seam splits during shipment.
