Description
This is a serious piece of music history, so make sure you are in no doubt about what you are bidding on here
This is a very rare copy of the first album by seminal avant-garde band, Throbbing Gristle on the Industrial Records label (cat. no. IR0002), confusingly entitled 'The Second Annual Report', on 12" vinyl.
The album is a combination of live and studio songs. The album was originally released on 12" vinyl in 1977 and pressed to CD, with additional tracks, in 1991.
The vinyl edition enjoyed several different pressings.Industrial Records' original pressing had 785 copies, while Fetish Records pressed 2000 copies. Fetish would press the album twice more after the original Industrial Records master plates were destroyed; the third edition was included in the five album Throbbing Gristle box set and was recut to play backwards and had a chamber orchestra added to "After Cease to Exist". The Fetish plates were reused to cut pressings made by Mute Records and Celluloid Records (the latter of which was released without the band's permission).
Make no mistake, this is one of the original 785 copies pressed by Industrial Records
The track list is as follows;
Side A
- "Industrial Introduction" - 1:04
- "Slug Bait – ICA" - 4:20
- "Slug Bait – Live at Southampton" - 2:45
- "Slug Bait – Live at Brighton" - 1:10
- "Maggot Death – Live at Rat Club" - 2:59
- "Maggot Death – Studio" - 4:34
- "Maggot Death – Southampton" - 1:37
- "Maggot Death – Brighton" - 0:57
"After Cease to Exist – The Original Soundtrack of the Coum Transmissions Film" - 20:19
The pictures above are not that brilliant I know, but you get a general idea of the condition of the record from them. The vinyl is spotless, with no signs of damage or playing.
The sleeve is plain white with some fading and some slight age marks on it. It has a sticker in the top-right corner with the text,
The Second Annual Report
of
Throbbing Gristle
Recorded during the year ending September 3rd 1977
Industrial Records, 10 Martello Street, London E.8
The back cover also has a lengthy promotional text, entitled "Music From The Death Factory". I would describe the sleeve as being in good condition, due to its age and the fact there is no serious damage to the sleeve. The inner sleeve is a traditional EMI paper inner-sleeve. with no printed markings. There is a hand-written marking in the top-left corner which reads, 'Throbbing Gristle Second Annual Report 2.25'
We all know this isn't going to go cheap, so let's be sensible here. No time wasters please, I will dispatch as soon as payment comes in.
This is a very rare piece of music history, so bid high, be lucky!
