Description

I bought this album at Brash's sometime in 1980, and I doubt that it would be the original pressing. They were clearing warehouse stock and had large quantities of various sixties artists for sale. I have listed release year as 1973 because that is the year it was first issued but have put 1980 in brackets to indicate that I bought it new at that time. I taped the album and rarely played it, over the years it has probably only been played about half a dozen times, most recently just before I listed it. The vinyl looks in excellent condition, clean and shiny on both sides. There is some low level surface noise on the lead in tracks and between the tracks, not noticeable while the music is playing, I have graded it VG+ instead of EX because of this. The cover is in VG+ condition, clean front and back with very slight ring wear evident if held at an angle to the light, the spine is excellent, and there are no tears, writing or labels, it has been kept in a plastic cover. The album is a compilation album and contains eight tracks that were singles B sides and four that were EP tracks. Two of these are instrumentals: "Stoned" and "2120 South Michigan Avenue" which has a Booker T and the MG's feel to it. The tracks were recorded between 1963 and 1968. "I'm Moving On" is taken from a live performance. Stand out tracks are the bluesy "Who's Driving Your Plane", "Surprise,Surprise" with its driving rockabilly beat, their version of the Coaster's "Poison Ivy"(covered in a similar style here by Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs) and a gritty version of  Barrett Strong's " Money" as well as the two instrumentals.
