WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and HARD TO FIND original STEREO London “ffrr” Records second press released in Chile in 1971 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records), licensed from London Records Inc., USA, catalog number (S)LLC-38613, with hand etched matrix numbers ZAL 10432(2) 2 in Side A, and ZAL-10433P. 2 in Side B, with unusual grey/silver LONDON “ffrr” LABELS!!! Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“STONE AGE” was originally released in 1971 and the same year we could see this compilation album released here in Chile and like in most of the cases of that period, we got this album with an UNIQUE COVER!!! Cover is the typical Chilean cover made of 2 single sheets of thick paper or thin cardboard for front and back cover, kept all together for an outer plastic bag which’s part of the cover. Front cover keeps the original UK artwork, with name of the band and album title written in English, with red lettering, but in Chile they added the album title at top edge written in Spanish with white lettering, “La Edad De Piedra”, and London Records logio at top right corner. Back cover keeps the original picture of the band but design is different, with album title written in Spanish in big black lettering at top edge, translated to English, with tracklist written in English, translated to Spanish, with full credits for songwriters. In labels the album title is written in English, translated to Spanish, with the tracklist written in English only, with full credits for songwriters. It’s interesting to notice that in back cover the sides are identified “Faz 1” (Side 1) and “Faz 2” (Side 2) but in labels they are “A” and “B”. It’s also interesting to see the error in the matrix number of Side A, it’s informed in label “ZAL 10432P”, like in original UK issue, but in Chilean matrix it’s etched “ZAL 10432(2)”!!! And the song “Confessin’ The Blues”, correctly written in back cover, it’s misspelled in label “COFESSIN’ The Blues”!!! And see the labels for the other and most curious error, it’s a “London ffrr” label for a Stereo press!!! Why “ffrr” if it should be “ffss” for Stereo issues? WOW!!! So, yes Sirs, this is really one of those finds you don’t see so often, one of the original copies of this famous compilation album by The Rolling Stones released in Chile in 1971 with an UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE with added title in Spanish and UNIQUE ERRORS!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX- or EX condition, complete, with some creases and minimal wear in edges, more evident in corners, no rips, no writings, no blemishes, no marks of any kind, no ring marks, some age browning in back cover, more obvious in the side the outer plastic bag was ripped when the record was originally opened. The outer plastic bag is also present and complete in VG or VG+ condition, with the only detail that it was ripped when the original owner opened it to get the record out, with some general wear, but it’s still a very nice example of this curious kind of Chilean cover. The record is in VG- or VG condition both sides, glossy and clean, with loads of scuffs and light hairlines and soft scratches, which prove the record was played many times. Labels on both sides are in great NM- or NM condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is in VG- or VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), constant soft crackles and some light clicks and pops here and there and in the silent parts, but the first songs of each side, “Look What You’ve Done” and “My Girl” have audible jumps in my turntable (maybe it’s only in my turntable, you already know that records “behave” different in different turntables), which could distract a little bit in the first minutes but after that the record still keeps a great sound in spite of the look and all the EVIDENT past plays. Overall, sure this record isn’t for Minty minds or audiophiles, but this record is A MUST TO HAVE for all The Rolling Stones collectors, no matter the condition, not many times seen and this time you have the chance to own this MEGARARE PRESS of “Stone Age” with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE with additional album title written in Spanish, UNIQUE PRINT ERROR, UNIQUE MATRIX ERROR and UNIQUE London “FFRR” labels for this Stereo press!!! And after more than 43 years and many plays this copy still retains a nice look and a very decent and respectable sound quality, loud, clear, with no distortions, no repetitions, only those audible jumps already informed in the first song of each side, which you will forget after to hear the rest of the record, it plays great!!! Maybe this record could need a professional vacuum cleaning. And, let me tell you again, if you like Mint copies, this is not for you, that’s a fact, but the level of rarity of this press makes this record A MUST TO HAVE!!! And keep in mind the very unusual grey/silver labels!!! In Chile the original press has green labels, second pressings have yellow or grey labels. AMAZING FIND FROM CHILE AGAIN!!! We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending of thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
