It's finally time to start selling the Beatles records I have been collecting for my daughter for most of her life. I always told her that one day she'd be glad I'd decided to collect records instead of baseball cards and, although it makes me both sad and happy at the same time, that day has arrived. - In March 1964 this was the Rolling Stones' first single release in the United States
- Not Fade Away: This was the Stones first UK top 10 hit.
- I Wanna Be Your Man (written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney) was released only as a single, The Rolling Stones' rendition never appeared on a studio album. In 1989, it was issued on Singles Collection: The London Years. This was the second Stones single released in England. John Lennon and Paul McCartney were developing this as a showcase song for Ringo. The Stones' manager Andrew Oldham invited them to the studios, where Lennon and McCartney finished it and gave it to The Stones to record. Listening to the Rolling Stones' camp plea for a single, the pair travelled back to rehearsal and finished off the song—whose verse they had already been working on in the corner of the room while the impressed Rolling Stones watched. Lennon later commented, "That shows how much importance we put on it. We weren't going to give them anything great, right?" Mick Jagger (1968): "We knew (the Beatles) by then and we were rehearsing and Andrew brought Paul and John down to the rehearsal. They said they had this tune, they were really hustlers then. I mean the way they used to hustle tunes was great: 'Hey Mick, we've got this great song.' So they played it and we thought it sounded pretty commercial, which is what we were looking for, so we did it like Elmore James or something. I haven't heard it for ages but it must be pretty freaky 'cause nobody really produced it. It was completely crackers, but it was a hit and sounded great onstage." Watching Lennon and McCartney compose this inspired Mick Jagger and Keith Richards to write more original songs. The Stones had mostly covered American Blues songs to this point. It was a big step for Mick and Keith, since they didn't consider themselves songwriters.

RECORD & COVER GRADES NEAR MINT (NM) ~ Looks brand new. Vinyl looks like it may never have been played, with perhaps some faint superficial marks or paper scratches but nothing that would affect play. Labels/Spindleholes have few, if any, spindle marks, or marks from handling. Covers are pristine and usually still in the original shrinkwrap.
Excellent (EX) ~ Is almost perfect but has some slight flaws. Vinyl may have some very light scratches/blemishes/scuffs which are superficial and should not affect the quality of the sound very much. There may be some surface noise but it shouldn't distract from the music. Covers may have very light ring wear/cornerwear/seamwear, light writing/discoloration and/or small stickers/punch holes/saw-cuts/creases. Labels may have light spindle marks/writing and/or small stickers.
VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) ~ Looks good but with some signs of use & wear. Vinyl will have noticeable light scuffs/scratches/wear but for the most part, it will only cause some light surface noise and/or spots of mild noise. Any scuffs and scratches will not be "feelable" and will not cause skips. There may be the slightest of "dish warps" but it will not be immediately noticeable & will not affect sound. Covers may have mild/moderate ring & shelf wear, small seam splits, some mild writing/creases/discoloration/stickers/punch holes/saw-cuts. Labels may have mild writing/names/stickers/spindle marks.
VERY GOOD (VG) ~ Shows definite wear and handling but the vinyl is playable and the cover is still together. Vinyl will have noticeable surface noise in areas with clicks and pops. There may be "feelable" scratches/scuffs which could cause skips. Cover has obvious ring and shelf wear, stickers, marks, staining, seam splits on any or all 3 sides, writing, cuts, and discoloration. Record Labels may have writing, names, stickers and will have spindle marks.
GOOD PLUS (G+) ~ Only a rare or special record will be listed with this grade.
