THE ROLLING STONES

“IT’S ONLY ROCK’N ROLL”

MEGARARE original Stereo Atlantic Records very first press released, edited and distributed in Chile in 1975 by Asociación Fonográfica Nacional “ASFONA”, M.R. (ASFONA Records), licensed from The Rolling Stones Records, U.S.A., catalog number 79101 with red/black Atlantic Records labels, with hand etched matrix numbers 79101-A in Side A and 79101-A-B EB-C (“A” is scratched, which’s obviously an error, because the side is “B”) in Side B. It’s interesting to notice that in the deadwax of Side B it’s written the date of pressing, “29-4-75” (April 29th of 1975)!!! Yes, WHAT A FIND!!! Another rare Chilean press of a great album!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

“IT’S ONLY ROCK AND ROLL” was originally released in 1974, but in Chile we had to wait until 1975 to see this classic album released here and we got it with an UNIQUE flipback COVER!!! Cover is made of two single sheets of thin cardboard with front cover pasted on the flips of back cover. Front cover keeps strictly the original artwork with the only difference that at top right corner is the ASFONA Records logo. Back cover also keeps the original artwork with album title and tracklist written in English only but all the other text is written in Spanish only, with “SERIE ESPECIAL DE LUJO” (Deluxe Serie) written at left top corner, Atlantic logo and catalog number at right top corner and “EL DISCO ES CULTURA” (The Record Is Culture) logo at left bottom corner. In labels the album title and tracklist are also written in English only with full credits for songwriters and all the other text in Spanish only. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER GREAT FIND from Chile!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG- condition both sides, clean and complete, with no ring marks or blemishes, only some light creases, moderate wear in all edges and little rips, more evident in the mouth edge and corners, with the bottom right corner broken and missed, a tape at bottom edge and seam splits in all sides, with a black mark in back cover someone did to delete some name. Some past owner had the good idea to use a plastic bag to protect the cover and it has worked very well, so I will keep that plastic bag. The record, however, is in VG- or VG condition both sides, glossy and clean but with loads of light scuffs and hairlines and light scratches, which don’t affect sound at all. Labels are in absolute EX+ or NM- condition both sides, with only minimal wear in the spindle hole. The sound is in great EX- or EX condition the Side A, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only some soft crackles, more evident in the silent parts between the songs, and in VG or VG+ condition the Side B, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise and constant crackles and soft occasional pops, more evident in the songs “Dance Little Sister” and “If You Really Want To Be My Friend”, which of course don’t affect the experience to listen and enjoy this great record. Overall, a nice record with an UNIQUE COVER and date of pressing hand etched in the deadwax, with still a very glossy look and a great sound quality after almost 40 years, a record not for Minty minds or audiophiles but anyway a record to see and hear and enjoy from the beginning to the end, no repetitions, no sticks, no jumps, no distortions at all. And don’t forget the UNIQUE COVER, the date of pressing etched in the deadwax and the UNIQUE MATRIX ERROR in Side B!!! WOW!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT TO READ
