Aftermath, first released on 15 April 1966, by Decca Records is the fourth British studio album by The Rolling Stones. It was released in the United States on 20 June 1966 by London Records as their sixth American album. The album proved to be a major artistic breakthrough for The Rolling Stones, being the first full-length release by the band to consist exclusively of Mick Jagger / Keith Richards compositions. Aftermath was also the first Rolling Stones album to be recorded entirely in the United States, at the legendary RCA Studios in Hollywood, California at 6363 Sunset Boulevard, and the first album the band released in stereo.

The album is also notable for its musical experimentation, with Brian Jones playing a variety of instruments not usually associated with rock music—including sitar on "Paint It, Black", the Appalachian dulcimer on "Lady Jane" and "I Am Waiting", the marimbas (African xylophone) on "Under My Thumb" and "Out of Time," harmonica on "High and Dry" and "Goin' Home", as well as guitar and keyboards. The song writing featured some of the Stones' most overtly misogynistic lyrics and, though full of experiments as noted above, much of the music was still rooted in Chicago electric blues.

As with all the Stones pre-1967 LPs, different editions were released in the UK and the USA. This was a common feature of British pop albums at that time—the same practice was applied to all The Beatles albums prior to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band—because UK albums typically did not include tracks that had already been released as singles, and because British pop albums generally included 13 or 14 tracks, while American albums usually featured 11 or 12 tracks.

The original British version of Aftermath was issued in April 1966 as a fourteen-track LP. Issued between the non-LP single releases of "19th Nervous Breakdown" and "Paint It, Black", Aftermath was a major hit in the UK, spending eight weeks at #1 on the UK album chart.

TOP AUDIO - This great record plays up to the visual grading and beyond. Strong, undistorted sound free of pops or clicks. Fantastic clear sound, sharp and with no blurring or distortion, and minimal static between the tracks. Amazing quality. When Mick Jagger plays the harmonica, you can actually hear the clear echo effect, the sound is so clear and true.

A fantastic copy of this original Stones giant, with that early rich sharp sound normally found on immaculate first pressings!

There is some occasional light background static, the occasional light static tic, but it is very light and infrequent, amazing for a 44 year old record!. Super strong sound with minimal distractions, the album plays right through with absolutely NO jumps or repeating unwanted noises what so ever. 

This rare record plays with Clear Strong Sound, with vibrant audio throughout. Strong, undistorted sound, the frequencies are sharp and clear and free of pops or clicks and near silence between the tracks. The start of the record on both sides is relatively clear, with slight background static only. The channels are clean and unstressed with no evidence of any groove-wear whatsoever. 

THE RECORD - VISUAL GRADING - EXCELLENT

A wonderful piece of HEAVY glossy vinyl. The vinyl is extra thick, with No scratches. This is absolutely beautiful piece. These records have only the faintest of handling marks, which can be seen under a very strong spot light. There are a few ultra faint hairlines, and handling marks, only. They have been played, but carefully and show no groove wear.

VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING: Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.

LABELS - EXCELLENT PLUS

Splendid deeply coloured attractive examples.  No wear around the hole areas, with all ink uneroded and fully intact, there are light spindle traces only. 

COVER - EXCELLENT

Comes with original  Robert Stace sleeve, laminated on the front only. There are no splits or tears, no rubbing, no ring wear, the sleeve is intact and in EXCELLENT condition.

The spine is on the whole square,  and the opening edges are square and un frayed. The background colour has no yellowing or staining or indentations. there are some light laminate creases, and some very light discolouration on the rear, (as clearly shown in the images) but no staining.

THE INNER  - Comes with Original DECCA UK "British Patent", MADE IN ENGLAND Ploy Lined Inner sleeve, in EXCELLENT CONDITION. No tears, creasing or stains, a solid example.

RARITY - It is getting harder and harder to find good examples the UK MONO pressing of AFTERMATH, and very hard if not almost impossible to find examples that are complete and intact, having no damage or excessive wear. The cover is almost impossible to find without serious wear, even modestly worn examples are scarce!. Finding a vinyl and cover in this condition, with the Original inner, makes this an incredible rarity, and an Original MONO UK pressing with super clear Audio. Amazing!

Top quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and is what I always aim for. Even with the cleanest copies you will find occasional static sound during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and I advise a light clean should be given between plays for optimal performance.

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.

V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.

FAIR: Fair. It is noticeable that the record has been played so much that the sound quality has deteriorated very noticeably. The cover and contents are showing signs of folding, scuffing of edges etc.
