·         DISC: V+/E- (very glossy, light marks and scratches; plays very well – better than visual grade)

·         LABELS: V+/E- (light writing)

PLEASE NOTE: Sound quality may vary for 78s, despite how thay appear visually - some discs may look pristine yet have surface noise; others may look grooved or scratchy but play beautifully. I have an old Fisher 78 player which I use to describe the music and to determine if a disc is too noisy or otherwise unsuitable to auction - it is fine for those purposes but may not reflect your listening experience on your equipment. Please consider these factors when bidding. Thank you.

• Guidelines reflect TYPICAL factors determining grade – variations are noted in the description.
• Please note I DO NOT USE "MINT" (M) as a grade, and RARELY USE "NEAR MINT" (NM) to describe disc condition.
• All discs are carefully cleaned and inspected under an appropriate metal grading lamp with strong light, to ensure visibility of groovewear.
• Flaws for ALL labels graded below E are noted in the description.
• Grades for discs below V (Very Good) are not listed, as I typically do not sell merchandise in such condition.
• Intermediate grades (e.g., E/E+, V+/E-, V/V-) are used, as applicable.

 

NM  (Near Mint) - Super glossy; disc and labels virtually flawless. 78 discs truly in this condition are RARE and, accordingly, I rarely apply this grade

• E+  (Excellent Plus) - what many refer to as "near mint"; pretty close to NM. Full or nearly full-gloss disc, virtually free of surface marks, minimal groovewear. Labels have one or two VERY minor flaws (e.g., a couple super-tiny flakes at spindle hole or perimeter; very slight ringwear or a few light spindle marks)
• E  (Excellent) - Disc very glossy, has minimal groovewear and a few light surface marks and small, light scratches OR very slight groovewear and minimal surface marks. Labels have slight general wear or ringwear, or a couple of minor flaws (noted in the description, as applicable)
• E-  (Excellent Minus) - Disc glossy or very glossy with slight groovewear and some more light surface marks, scuffs/rubs and small, light scratches than on an otherwise E disc. Expect slight or some surface noise that's noticeable but NOT overwhelming.
• V+  (Very Good Plus) - Disc still has some gloss with some groovewear, light surface marks/rubs and small light scratches; OR very glossy with lots of light marks and scratches; OR noticeable groovewear and loss of luster, with few surface marks. There may be a few deeper scratches if they do not significantly affect play. Expect some surface noise that's noticeable but NOT overwhelming.
• V  (Very Good) - Disc still has some gloss, with noticeable groovewear and lots of light surface marks and small light scratches, OR significant groovewear and loss of luster, with few surface marks. There may be a few or some deeper scratches if they do not significantly affect play. Expect considerable surface noise throughout that's noticeable but NOT overwhelming - NO skips, sticks, cracks, deep scratches, excessive noise, or loud "pops" or "clicks" (unless noted in description)
