VINYL is NEAR MINT / NEAR MINT-
Full Gloss, super-clean all around. SIDE ONE is NM- with 1 tiny (1mm) inaudible hairline, visible under hard bright light. SIDE TWO is NM with no marks. PLAY-TESTED :superb NM sound both sides. Labels are immaculate

COVER is VG+ (STRONG) Overall clean, bright cover shows very light shelf / edge wear and small, faint discoloration spot at u.r. edge from removed 1970's store price sticker. Edges straight, corners sharp. No splits. Spine Titles crisp and 100% legible.

RARE First 'FLAW-FIX' replate - ORANGE Labels - Limited to 10,000 copies
Vastly improved pressing - with new matrix number 'RR1174B Re3' on side B.
The initial pressing batch of 5,000 - with purple colored labels (pressed earlier the same year) - had serious audio flaws: particularly an audible distortion in the vinyl during the first track on side B, "Ship's A' Going Down". This was due to a mastering / plating flaw (bad stamper). Many copies were distributed and sold before the remaining copies of the pressing batch were recalled, and apparently then destroyed (landfill).
This DARK ORANGE label Pressing was the first issued correcting the flawed audio of the initial purple label press.
Printed on back: CORRECT 1970’s RALPH RECORDS address 444 GROVE STREET, SAN FRANCISCO
(RALPH soon moved to 109 MINNA st. #391). Any copies showing the later address are 1980’s represses.

…we used to buy LPs directly, in person, from RALPH, for my record store in the 1970s - at their GROVE St. address offices.
This music, recorded in 1974 - under The Residents' quixotic "Theory of Obscurity" was placed in the vaults - unissued. It was not released until 1978. The Residents themselves had forgotten completely about its existence until a ‘Cryptic’ inventory rediscovered it in the vaults.

who was a DJ at the Radio Station I co-founded in the 1970's - and who worked for me at my California record store in the '70s and '80s. . Sadly he has now left this mortal coil, bequeathing me his deep Vinyl Mine.

(ie: I would be happy to ship to France EXCEPT for Isle de France (where almost all bogus 'NOT RECEIVED' cases come from) ... but sadly I have to block France entirely to avoid those scams.
