Reggatta De Blanc LP on Blue Splattered Vinyl
Original 1979 A&M Australian pressing, pressed by Festival Records
Cat No. L37068
Matrix in the run out groove is SMX 54867
This Police coloured vinyl LP is not a bootleg or a re-pressing. It is a genuine original 1979 Australian pressing. I have never seen another one of these and I believe it is a one off pressing that the Festival Pressing plant was renowned for doing. As you may know Festival Records pressed Green vinyl copies of the Zenayatta Mondatta LP and Blue, Red and Yellow vinyl copies of the Synchcronicity LP on behalf of A&M records who were keen to promote sales through these unique Australian exclusive editions. I believe that this Blue vinyl edition of the Reggatta LP was either a test pressing for a possible withdrawn release of a coloured vinyl edition of Reggatta or perhaps a one off edition created by an employee at the pressing plant. I have never in all my years of collecting Police records ever heard rumour or seen another one of these
For many years Festival Records were the main distributor and pressing plant in Australia. As you may know the Festival Records pressing plant was behind many of the rarest Australian U2 vinyl issues such as the purple vinyl issue of the "All I want Is You" 7"
