THE OUTSIDERS – CQ Mythology. Pseudonym VP 99 026. Netherlands release. FACTORY SEALED NEW 2-LP VINYL RECORD ALBUM SET. This edition issued in 2011, 24-bit remaster from the original master tapes. Collects outtakes, demos, and backing tracks from session recordings for the 1968 CQ album. Limited edition. Pressed on 180g green vinyl and comes in a heavy board stock gatefold cover. This material was first compiled and issued as part of the 1994 Pseudonym 2-CD release CQ Sessions (I’m not sure how many of the takes on this release are the same as on the 1994 issue, but title wise this seems to include the same tracks except in a different running order). DESCRIPTION:  Though few people realized it back in 1968, The Outsiders CQ (pronounced as "Seek You") was a landmark album for the Dutch music scene, and the crowning achievement for one of Holland’s greatest bands. Had it been released by a British or American band, CQ might be mentioned today in the same breath as Ogden's Nut Gone Flake, Odessey & Oracle, S.F. Sorrow, White Light/White Heat, and We're Only In It For The Money, all iconic underground rock albums released that same tumultuous year. The album was recorded at G.T.B. Studios in The Hague and the Soundpush Studios in Blaricum during the summer of 1968.  For the first time the group had the luxury of uninterrupted studio time, so the musicians were able to work out ideas right there in the studio, rolling tape as they went, then listening back and discussing what changes should be made. CQ Mythology presents these session tapes, giving listeners a fascinating glimpse into the bands creative process as they shaped the songs that would eventually comprise the CQ album. The original releases striking gatefold cover art, designed by artist Anton van der Gulik, was supposed to fold out into four rather than two panels. But apart from the album sleeve that Polydor has released, Van der Gulik made a second design. His four unused iron plate panels now comprise the artwork for this CQ Mythology release, a sprawling double-album that stands as a kind of shadow version of the final album. It's a compelling document of a true masterwork-in-progress.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers.

MIX:  This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style.

$4.50 via USPS media mail for the first single LP or double disc LP set (excluding box sets); this also includes tracking. Add-on items ship for an additional $1 to $1.25, depending on weight. Request an invoice total on multiple item purchases and I will send an invoice with discounted shipping total. If you pay from the automatically generated invoice with full shipping charges per item I will refund the appropriate discount amount to your account. The service is still available for all International Priority Mail and Global Express (at a much higher postal rate). Ebay is now offering Standard International Shipping Service, this is a joint service between eBay and the USPS to offer tracking for first class package international mail for a small additional fee to the regular shipping prices.
