Only 75 of these were pressed by the small London based label Azuli back in 2005 and were sold exclusively via their website. All copies sold out within minutes and this rare collectable was born! The record features THE FLAMING LIPS playing a mind-blowing cover version of THE WHITE STRIPES song, SEVEN NATION ARMY and the rare b-side track THE JIST (both tracks NOT AVAILABLE ON ANY OTHER RELEASE)! Flaming Lips Cover White Stripes on New Single
The love between The Flaming Lips and The White Stripes is perhaps best illustrated by the former band's song "Thank You Jack White (for the Fiber-Optic Jesus That You Gave Me)", which was included on the Lips' 2003 EP Fight Test. Or maybe it was the gift of the Fiber-Optic Jesus in the first place. Or perhaps it was when the Lips subsequently filled in for the Stripes during the 2003 summer festival season (due to Jack White's injured hand), and during that set covered "Seven Nation Army". Well, whatever the case, they've apparently decided to make it official, and on February 1st The Flaming Lips are set to release a 7" of "Seven Nation Army" through Azuli Records in the UK. The record will be limited to a stingy 75 copies, and contains these two tracks:
01 "Seven Nation Army (Harry Potter and George W. Bush Severed Head Mix)"
02 "The Jist"
