LABEL: Federal 295-90 green (turquois-ish) label, silver print, deep groove in label, rigid vinyl, etched matrix numbers in trail-off wax are “FLP-93” (Side 1) and “KLP-94” (Side 2). Absolute original U.S. pressing!

FORMAT: 33 1/3 rpm 10” long playing

CONDITION OF LABEL: Side 1 label has a small amount of sticker residue to the upper right of the spindle hole, not on print. There is no damage to the label, though there is the typical minor darkening to the area where the sticker has been successfully removed. With the proper chemicals/patience, I am certain the remainder of the residue can be successfully removed.  Labels are still sharp and quite nice, print is still a shiny silver and not faded. Both labels do show lots of spindle trails, but no scratches. These spindle trails, however, do not accurately reflect how well the record plays…

CONDITION OF VINYL:The record retains high blackness and shine, with light evidence of play.  There are only light, mostly hairline sleeve-type marks that do not create distractions. Visually, this record is stunning for 1954, easily a strong VG+ (or EX). BUT THE RECORD PLAYS EVEN BETTER! It plays with very, very little surface noise! There is no significant ticking or popping, no crackling, no sibilant sounds, no distortion. Only what you’d expect from even the cleanest copy: Pretty insignificant rustle/hiss well in the background from previous play and/or the pressing. This record plays darn near NEAR MINT! Below I have provided links so that you can LISTEN TO THIS RECORD IN ITS ENTIRETY and judge for yourself! I have recorded both sides of the record using a decent Audio Technica moving magnet cartridge. What you hear is the actual record that I am selling. This recording has not been “cleaned up”, tampered with, or altered in any way. This is precisely how this record sounds!

DESCRIPTION / COMMENTS: I DO NOT HAVE A JACKET FOR THIS ITEM. This item was found in a carefully labeled (handwritten by the previous owner) 10” hard cardboard sleeve. It appears to have spent most of its existence housed in this jacket, which would account for its incredible condition. Again…this auction DOES NOT include the custom jacket! Still, this is one of the rarest and most sought after r&b records, in top condition, and plays about as close to perfect as you’ll find in a used copy. Please listen to the recordings! PLEASE NOTE: What appears to be a scuff at the bottom of the record in the Side 2 photo below is simply glare or a glitch in the photo.
