OTHER INFO: The eponoymous second album from The Libertines instantly shot to the #1 spot on the UK charts upon release in 2004, surpassing the debut in terms of energy and creativity. As with Up The Bracket, The Libertines was produced by former Clash frontman, Mick Jones, who brilliantly captures Pete Doherty and Carl Barat as they trade melodic slurring and mumbled choruses while propulsive guitar grooves take left turns and threaten to careen out of control. Tough and heart-rending, tracks like "Can't Stand Me Now" and "What Became of the Likely Lads" reach out to the drunken lout inside us all. "For Lovers" reached #7 in the charts, eclipsing The Libertines' best single performance to that date.
