 Country: UK Released: 27 Feb 1970 Genre: Rock, Pop  Style: Beat, Classic Rock The Kinks (commonly known as The Black Album) was released in the UK in February 1970, in mono only. It serves as a history of The Kinks on record to date, and was originally planned to include a book by Ray chronicling the band’s career. Unlike the many Pye/PRT exploitation compilations, this double album was compiled by Ray Davies himself. The sound quality on this compilation varies, but generally improves as the album progresses.

    CONDITION GATEFOLD Sleeve  / GOOD,, NO RIPS, SPLITS ETC.   HAS  NAME WRITTEN at top and tracks are underlined in biro + some writing to inside sleeve. It Has been stored upright in my Music Room.

    TITLE spine has Sellotape over but is still readable.

    RECORD GOOD ~ CLEAN ~ Not quite as glossy as it once was but still in good shape / SOME SURFACE MARKS and feint scratches these are not etched into the vinyl  ~ Nothing serious.   Plays through fine with just a few crackles ~ which is expected of Vinyl this age. On my Stereo It skipped once  right at the beginning of the  1st track on Side 3 otherwise it played through perfectly without fault.

    LABELS  ~ Side 1 and 3 DYMO sticker with name on. Side 2 and 4 name written on.

    ALL COVERS AND INSIDE SLEEVES HAVE BEEN MADE IN TO COLLAGES WITH PICS AND PHOTO'S TAKEN FROM MAGAZINES OF THE TIME i.e. Record Mirror / Sounds Magazine / Melody Maker / New Musical Express. These have been stuck on with Sellotape which is now peeling in some places.

    I am not a dealer. I am a private seller gradually disposing of my vinyl collection. I have had this ALBUM in my collection for  50 years. It has been stored upright in my music room. It now needs a new home. ~~~ I hope that the records I sell go to other collectors who love vinyl such as I do. ~~~
