THE KINKS Arthur (Reprise 6366) RARE US 70s Pressing MINT UNPLAYED!
RARE early 70s US pressing of The Kinks` masterpiece "Arthur (Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire)" on Reprise Records (October 1969).
One of a veritable string of period masterpieces (the others were "Something Else" and "The Village Green Preservation Society", as well as -arguably- "Lola Versus Powerman And The Moneygoround") released by the second-best pop group ever to come out of England, "Arthur" was "one of the most effective concept albums in rock history, as well as one of the best and most influential British pop records of its era" (Stephen Thomas Erlewine, allmusic.com).
"Less ambitious than Tommy, and far more musical — no fillers, no waste tracks, not a matter of ideas but of perceptions worked out by bass, drums, voices, horns and guitars — Arthur is by all odds the best British album of 1969. It shows that Pete Townshend still has worlds to conquer, and that the Beatles have a lot of catching up to do", J.R. Young wrote in Rolling Stone (November 1, 1969).

- Also includes the original custom-printed inner sleeve in near-perfect condition! The inner sleeve dates the record to the 1972/73 time frame...
