THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE “Axis: Bold as Love” MONO

1968/Cdn/Reprise R 6281…..here’s a nice and very rare original Canadian MONO pressing with the old tri-color steamboat labels. The top opening gatefold cover is in Poor condition, there is heavy cover wear, there is a piece pf tape across the top opening that’s mainly open again because the tape has let loose on the inner cover, there is some small writing in blue pen top right just below the tape edge, heavy wear on all seams, front cover left side has a 3” split at the center, the right side seam which is usually the opening is completely open, the seam is not cut but is totally clean of seam paper, the right seam on the rear cover is totally split except for the last ¼” at the top, the inner gatefold has minor light wear, it’s in poor condition but  it’s still rare. The thick vinyl is in Poor condition, the record is covered with light scuffs/scratches, nothing too deep that causes loud noise. The record plays all the way through with light noise mainly, there are moments where the noise is more noticeable in the quieter parts. I played the record through on both sides with no skips, sticks or continuous noise distractions, the music more often over powers the light background noise throughout play and the fidelity is still intact with only light minor groove wear in spots. The labels have wear around the spindle hole, and a short black mark at the center of one label. Please keep in mind I’m listing this because if it’s extreme rarity, and it does play through not too badly. A significant mix difference to the Stereo copy which I also have listed. • Noel Redding – bass, 8 string bass, backing vocals, foot stamping on 'If 6 Was 9', lead vocals on 'She's So Fine'. (An eight string bass is used on several tracks.)

Axis: Bold as Love is the second studio album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Under pressure from their record company to follow-up the successful debut of their May 1967 album Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold as Love was released on Track Records in the UK in December 1967. It reached #5 in the UK and later, #3 in the US.  

The album was recorded to fulfill the band's contract, which stated that they must produce two albums in 1967. Even so, it was not released in North America until 1968 due to fears that it might disturb the sales of the first album. Bassist Noel Redding has noted that this was his favourite of the three Experience albums. He plays eight string bass on some tracks.

Just before the album's completion, Hendrix left the master tapes of side 1 in a taxi. They were never found again, and thus the A-side had to be mixed again quickly.

MINT: as stated with no defects

M- or Mint Minus, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.

EXCELLENT: between VG++ and M- , still very collectable, visually and sonicly clean.

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much.

VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches that should not cause any problems to the listening enjoyment. I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
