Here is a totally authentic and rare U.S. heavy vinyl MONO pressing of the classic 1st album by the great Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions on the original black ABC-Paramount mono label. The vinyl is in very nice condition visually, featuring beautiful luster and shine, with some minor surface scuffing/smudging and some very light needlemark-type scratches.  It plays with beautiful fidelity - just a shade under near mint - with no more than a light touch of underlying surface crackle - primarily audible only in between tracks - and a few light ticks.  You would be hard pressed to find a nicer sounding example of this Chicago soul classic than this beautiful original mono pressing.

The record comes in its original ABC-Paramount inner sleeve showing contemporary releases by various artists on the label.

The beautiful all-original cover is in excellent condition, with vivid colors.  The only flaws to be noted are some light ringwear/overall wear, a few light spots on the front, some minor peeling and a small scrape around the cover opening, minor edgewear and some minor edgewear.  Note that the lower right corner is neatly reinforced with 1" of transparent scotch tape.

When buying items sight unseen in a forum such as Ebay, trust and credibility of the seller is all important.  That's why I provide the following additional guarantees of authenticity for all my records (offered by few other sellers on Ebay):

• Scanned images of the ACTUAL cover and record labels of the record you are bidding on.  You will never see the phrase "the images shown here are from a previous auction"...
  
• Deadwax matrix codes for each side are provided so those inclined can verify such information as the original pressing plant and mastering engineer.
  
• Records are both visually inspected and audibly graded.  No surprises!
  
• Each record offered is from my personal collection built up over a period of 25 years of vinyl purchasing.  I have gone to great lengths to find the absolute best sounding copy available of each record, and am pleased to now be able to offer these outstanding items to my fellow vinyl aficionados.

But above all, I respect and value my customers!  All records are shipped within 48 hours of receipt of payment, securely packaged in sturdy custom vinyl record mailers.  The record is always removed from the cover for shipping, and both record and cover are shipped in protective plastic sleeves, with cardboard filler pads utilized to prevent movement within the box.  You will be kept fully updated at all times on the status of your shipment.

My grading methodology for vinyl records

All of the records I sell on Ebay have prior been recorded to hard disk - "needledropped" if you will.  Not only does this allow me to visually inspect the waveforms of the recordings for any obvious signs of surface noise and clicks/pops, but serves as a reference point to resolve any disputes that may later occur over grading (though these are extremely rare in my experience).  Mono records are recorded either with a mono phono cartridge, and/or with the selector switch on my vintage Fisher tube receiver set to "phono mono".

I first inspect the record visually under a bright incandescent lamp. Then I play portions of each side to arrive at a general overall impression of the record's condition, and also play any areas where the waveforms may indicate the presence of surface noise.  You can be assured that when I say a record is "near mint", or that there is just "a hint" of surface crackle, it means exactly that - not that it has  been trashed and is unlistenable.

NOTE - All rates quoted above apply strictly to SINGLE purchases of SINGLE vinyl LPs, and reflect both actual shipping cost and a nominal charge for packaging supplies. Shipping costs for double, multiple album, or box sets will be calculated on the basis of package weight and may incur higher charges. We are happy to combine multiple album purchases into a single box for shipment - space permitting. Cost will again be calculated based on weight of package. For cases other than single LP purchases, buyer is ALWAYS instructed to wait for receipt of invoice prior to sending payment. Payments not in compliance with the rates quoted here or these instructions will not be accepted.

All domestic shipping is via USPS Priority Mail.  Media and surface mail rates are available only for orders in excess of $200 total.  All overseas, Mexican and Canadian orders are shipped airmail via either First Class International or Priority Mail International - NO EXCEPTIONS.  Note that First Class International shipping is available only for packages not exceeding four pounds (generally five records or fewer).  Note also that shipping insurance for international packages is available only with Priority Mail International and that not all locations are covered.

In all cases, should buyer elect to not purchase shipping insurance, or otherwise select a shipment method (i.e., First Class International) where shipping insurance is not available, BUYER assumes risk for non-receipt of items. Upon request, postal shipping receipts will be provided to buyer for proof of shipment. 

We discourage our customers from seeking special handling. An additional fee of $25.00 will be applied to all shipments requiring additional packaging or a second, external cardboard box.  An additional fee of $20.00 will be applied to all shipments requiring shipment documents (waybill, bill of lading or similar). And additional fee of $5.00 will be applied to all shipments requiring a hardcopy invoice (other than e-mail invoice).

We also DISCOURAGE our customers from seeking EXPRESS delivery, such as UPS Global Express Mail or Federal Express International. In most cases, our customers receive merchandise within a few days and express delivery is usually not necessary. We will, however, comply with any such requests, but be forewarned: postage and shipment rates may be SIGNIFICANTLY higher than for regular mail.
