And once again, it sounds like a more stripped down, intimate version of her main band. Much like its predecessor, SWANSONG features Campbell's breathy vocals over sparse arrangements; soft piano or picked acoustic guitars are balanced with gorgeous string arrangements. In her charming Scottish accent, Campbell has a knack for sounding like she's singing for the listener alone. SWANSONG's successes make it arguably her finest achievement as a solo performer, even if the last under the Gentle Waves moniker. ...............

Diese LP ist ein verdammt guter Tipp für frisch Verliebte, Romantiker oder einfach alle die gerne eine gute Frauenstimme hören. Im Falle von The Gentle Waves darf man sich sogar auf Isabelle Campbelle (Belle & Sebastian) freuen, deren zarte, fast hauchende Stimme jeden Popfreund verzaubert. Ähnlich wie bei "Fold Your Hands Child" erlebt man zauberhafte sanfte Melodien mit akustischer Instrumentierung. Man erinnert sich ein wenig an französische Balladen und registriert erfreut einen abwechslungsreichen Einsatz von Streichern, Trompete, Posaune, Harfe, Glockenspiel, Hammond Orgel, Piano, u.v.a.. "Swansong For You" darf man getrost zu den schönsten LPs dieses Herbstes zählen!........
