THE EXCEPTION On The West Coast: From A Distance b/w This Precious Time (AG 4644) RARE Swiss Beat
Insanely rare Swiss/Freak Beat single by The Exception (from Basel), pressed locally and issued c. 1966. The single bears the title "On The West Coast"; obviously an allusion to the provenance of P.F. Sloan, as two of his compositions are covered:
From A Distance b/w This Precious Time. Both titles are very competently played; the chorus vocals (at least three of the band`s five members sing!) are actually rather good. If you are looking for a sonic comparison, think Love Affair or, er...P.F. Sloan.
Needless to say, this single is very, very rare. The last one showed up on eBay almost three years ago and sold for $161. What is special about this specific copy? It was obviously fully autographed (in 1966) by all the band members, including lead singer Alice; a collector`s dream! Please see photos for details.
Grading:
VG+(+) COVER. Original picture sleeve with a stain on back cover. Otherwise fine, with no seam splits. Rear cover fully autographed.
VG+(+) RECORD. Light general hairlining, but no crackle. The only exception is the last 30 seconds of "From A Distance": Slight background crackle is caused by microscopic "bubbling" of the vinyl due to technical imperfections in the manufacturing process.
