THIS EP BY "THE CRICKETS"  IS CALLED:

"THE NEW CRICKETS"

IT IS THE ONLY EP RELEASED IN AUSTRALIA BY THE CRICKETS AFTER THE GREAT MAN BUDDY HOLLY PASSED AWAY.

IT WAS RELEASED HERE IN AUSTRALIA ON THE RED AND SILVER STRIPE CORAL LABEL CX-5323 ON THE 8TH SEPTEMBER 1960.  RE-CATALOGUED AS CX-10280 WHEN FESTIVAL CHANGED OVER TO THE 10,000 SERIES IN LATE 1961 WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND.

THIS COPY BEING PRESENTED HERE FOR AUCTION IS THE ORIGINAL PRESSING.

IT FEATURES TRACKS FROM THE AUSTRALIAN ALBUM "IN STYLE WITH THE CRICKETS" WHICH WAS ISSUED HERE IN AUGUST 1960 ON THE BLUE AND SILVER CORAL LABEL FIRSTLY ON CL-7668 AND THEN ON FL-30444.

FEATURES SONNY CURTIS, JERRY ALISON, JOE B MAULDIN AND EARL SINKS WITH EARL TAKING LEAD ON DEBORAH AND WHEN YOU ASK ABOUT LOVE AND SONNY THE OTHER TWO TRACKS.

THE TRACKS ARE:

BABY MY HEART, MORE THAN I CAN SAY, DEBORAH AND WHEN YOU ASK ABOUT LOVE.

NONE OF THESE TRACKS WERE EVER ISSUED IN AUSTRALIA AS SINGLES.

IT IS MEGA RARE AS IT ONLY SOLD IN THE HUNDREDS OF COPIES.

THE LABELS ARE CLEAN AND CLEAR.

THE COVER IS VG+ WITH SIGNS OF AGEING AND CREASING. THE FRONT COVER DOWN THE BOTTOM IN THE WHITE LINE HAS A NAME SCRAWLED. PROBABLY A FEMALE.  HAS TAPE ON SPINE. (REFER SCAN).

THE RECORD IS IN VG++ CONDITION PLAYS LOUD AND CLEAR, AT THE END OF TRACK TWO ON BOTH SIDES HAS NOISE ON THE END OF THE TRACK. HAS VERY MINOR SURFACE MARKS. VERY MINOR BACKGROUND NOISE.

I use the English Record Collectors Magazines Guidelines for gradings as this appears to be the generally accepted term of reference with variances to + or minus.

Please check my feedback if you have any doubts about my gradings.

Grading Definitions (from Record Collector magazine)

MINT (M): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratchs. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just about playable, but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
