RECORD CONDITION:
This album is the third, and certainly the least celebrated of all the Chocolate Watchband releases, and final release from this band whose brief career turned into a saga of ever-changing line-ups. They were one of the best of the now legendary sixties US garage/punk bands, and this record still manages to keep alive the raw musical spirit that sealed their reputation, even though for some strange reason it remains a footnote. That hasn't affected the rarity or indeed the price that original pressings, like the genuine US original we are offering here, though - with copies regularly changing hands for three figures. However, with this pressing I'm starting the bidding at a potentially bargain price because the record has one factor that prevents it from getting the Near Mint grade that I would definitely give it otherwise. Instead it's graded as a still wonderful EXCELLENT! The one thing I need to point out is a small perimeter warp that causes a slight ripple as the record rotates on a deck. First and foremost, this is the kind of warp that only truly reveals itself when the record is playing and it is not serious enough to prevent the needle from staying in the grooves - this record still plays perfectly! If any potential buyer would like me to make a digital camera video of the record playing in order to demonstrate the record plays unimpaired then send me your e-mail address and I will be happy to send it to you as an attachment.
Obviously it's a great shame this minor blemish has developed on the record at some point over the last 35 years, because other than that it's a quite stunning example of an original DJ promo copy in exceptional Near Mint like condition. There are no bad marks on the record and virtually no paper scuffs to be found either. The labels are clean with no spindle wear other than one single mark on each side that clearly suggests that the record has only ever been played once (and then again by me for a play-grade; so two times in thirty five years should tell you what amazingly well preserved vinyl we have here). The sound quality is absolutely incredible and the whole album plays, both sides, without a single blemish in the sound. I've emphasised the small perimeter warp because I always feel it's vitally important the potential buyer knows exactly what shape the vinyl they're considering buying will be in - but having said that a description that said 'like new in every way imaginable apart from a minor warping to the edge that doesn't effect the playing of the disc' would perfectly, and accurately suffice!
COVER CONDITION:
This is a thick US paste on sleeve that is fully intact and remains perfectly useable. It?s status as a rare collectors item is pretty much sealed by the presence on the rear sleeve of a 'for DJ use' stamp, an addition that decisively marks this out as a first pressing. The sleeve has clearly been either handled a lot or it has been pulled out from a tightly packed shelf and looked at on many occasions because the chief factor in the above grade is in the rubbing, scuffing and light ring-wear marks that are to be found on the front and rear sleeve. This is wear and tear that is noticeable enough for me to warrant giving the cover a grade of GOOD, even though as I stated above there are actually no areas where the cover is properly damaged or coming apart - it's just noticeable signs of general wear and ageing. Having said all that, my grade also took into consideration a couple of small tears on the top right hand corner of the front that has been caused by some previous sticker removal, and some scuffing along the spine. The top and bottom edges remain smooth and basically unblemished. Perhaps this sleeve doesn't read like a hotly desirable collectors piece because of the general wear and tear I am writing about, but take a look at the photos below and you can see it is really a whole lot better than I've made it sound and is still a collectable rarity that deserves to find a home in a quality collection of classic sixties garage punk.

VINYLSOUND
I have been trading and collecting records for over 20 years now. Our auctions on Ebay are always play-graded (when buying vinyl on the internet you really should settle for nothing less!) and our descriptions endeavour to inform potential buyers of every possible detail. Our photos are taken with care and aim to show you everything that there is to see, there's nothing to hide with our auctions so please e-mail us and ask us questions if you need any additional information. We'll endeavour to tell you everything you need to know.
99% of our auctions have a Price Guide value of more than £30 (often a lot more) and our starting prices are low, so there's always a chance of picking up a bargain! We enjoy trading in rare and collectable vinyl and we love it when those rarities find a good home. Our gradings are based on Record Collector magazines 'Rare Record Price Guide' system (Mint/Excellent/Very Good/Good/Fair) and we always steer on the side of caution with these (for example if we have any element of doubt about grading a record EX we will always go VG to ensure the eventual buyer has a pleasant surprise!)
We offer money back to buyers with legitimate complaints; for example if the item has been damaged in transit - however if the buyer has simply decided they don't like the music then we do expect them to keep the record! Happy bidding and good luck
