Here we have an old album that belonged to a mate of mine who died a little while back. This is the Chiffons' first album which some think is called He's So Fine, but in fact it's just called The Chiffons, at least that's what the label states. It's on the Stateside label and is Mono from 1963. It's been played a bit but sounds very good indeed. When the needle first hits the groove on the outer limits of the disc there is a lot of noise, but by the time the music starts that's all long gone. If you look at the second picture here you'll see there's a bit of surface marking on the disc; this rather worried me, but when I played it on my USB turntable (which has a very light arm on it) I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of nasty noises and the nice sound quality. There is a little writing on the back cover (my mate's initials, see picture three) but that's all, perhaps this could be removed with spirit? It's a thick, American style flipback cover made by Ernest J. Day and Co. Ltd. of London, and there is a little damage as you'll see, but it's not unsavable as some of Arthur's other old things were. This edition is quite rare; it has the number SL 10040 and the dead wax matrices read SRX 3081-1N & SRX 3082-1N. There's a small smudge of pinkish ink in the dollar sign of the label on side 2, where Arthur may have tried to put his initials on again. Come and have a look anyway, this is a nice item that is quite a little time capsule. Ain't it the ginchiest?
