Description

Up for your consideration is an original 1961 MONO pressing of Sam Jones Plus 10 with "The Chant" on the Riverside label, catalog number RLP 358.

I have actually played this record through - and this record plays VERY cleanly, with minimal surface noise - which is key, so you can really enjoy all that wonderful bass-work! Simply a beautiful thing to listen to!!

The record labels are free from stickers, handwriting and spindle-marks. The record cover is also free from stickers and handwriting. There is minimal ring-wear, which only presents itself at the top of both the front and back (see pictures). The edges and corners are good and there are no seam splits. However, the top edge is certainly dirty and shows some wear; the uppermost left edge shows some deterioration for about an inch. The record - while now protected with a modern anti-static sleeve - will also be shipped with the "onion-skin" sleeve that I found it in.

I've started this auction at a rather low price (but not as low as some of my other auctions) for this great record because I understand that a "Buy It Now" price can sometimes be a bit intimidating. This way, you get a chance to pick it up this great record for your collection at a reasonable price set by the marketplace, not by a book or someone's wishful thinking.

I am not a dealer! I'm just a guy who loves the sound of vinyl and the visual images and text that only a record cover can provide. This record - and the other records I'm listing right now - come from a friend; and I get the joy of listening through them as I put them up here on eBay for her, and the ones that don't sell, well, I get to include them in *my* collection. So it's a WIN for everybody!

If you look at my eBay rating, you'll notice I took a hit (negative feedback) some months back - my first negative *ever* in my 11 years here on eBay. In the middle of that particular auction, my attention became focused entirely on a family matter, and unfortunately, this eBay customer suffered for it. However, in the end, the customer was fully refunded *and* received the product. Please rest assured that this record - and any other item I put up here on eBay - is ready to be shipped within 24 hours of receiving your payment.

PLEASE READ - SHIPPING CHARGES

I’ll ship this Media Mail to keep costs down, but if you'd prefer another method, please let me know and we'll work it out. In the greater Boston area? We can make arrangements for pickup to save on shipping costs! Are you an Alaska or Hawaii or non-US bidder? Please contact me for an accurate rate, and to discuss payment options (additional charges may be needed for currency conversion if not using PayPal).

Yes! I’ll combine winning bids!

Also, you'll notice that my shipping charges are a little lower than most - that's because I don't try to make an extra buck from over-charging on shipping. You should know that the average cost for shipping an LP domestically via Media Mail is about $2.50. Yes, $2.50! The extra 50 cents from *my* $3 shipping charge goes toward the cost of the LP mailer, bubble-wrap, and the plastic protective sleeve that protects each of your winning bids. I guess that would be the "handling" we all hear so much about. Anyway, I thought you should know up front, how my shipping charges work.
