SELCOL RINGO "NEW BEAT" DRUM WITH STAND
ULTRA RARE ITEM!!
This is an auction for a rare and highly sought after Beatles snare drum manufactured in the UK in 1964-1965 by Selcol.
As well as being one of the rarer Beatle drums produced by Selcol, it is also complete with wooden legged stand.
The Beatles/Ringo Starr "New Beat" Drum complete with it's original wooden stand. It is maroon plastic with orange trim and has Ringo's autograph and face to the right of the signature on the skin. This is the rarer drum as most were produced with Ringos signature only on the drum skin.
The side of the drum has the colour transfer of the Beatles with the "New Beat" motif directly below. Both the transfer and the logo are in excellent condition. The drum itself is 14" in diameter and is 6" tall. The top and bottom skins are tight and not damaged although as you expect with a forty year old toy it has been used and the skin does have some surface scuffing.
Around the tension screw a small piece of plastic (one centimetre in lenth and half a centimetre in breadth) has been broken and a two centimetre hairline crack is evident due to overtightening of the screw. These cracks are commonplace in this drum and are the only real sign of damage that has been due to a little neglect and not to normal wear and tear over the years.
The tuning key is functional, all the rods and screws are present.
The stand is in overall excellent condition with all the plastic clamps present. Shows normal wear for it's age
Overall a very nice item!
Original Beatles toys / instruments from the 1960's continue to be some of the most sought after by the serious Beatles collectors.
