Offered is the 1st Edition, Mono Pressing of The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

It has been pressed at the Los Angeles Pressing Plant, and is complete as issued, with the fabulous Gatefold Cover, Original Inner Sleeve, and the Cardboard Cut-Out insert. 

It is difficult to overstate the importance and influence of The Album - and the many accolades have been recorded in the Wikipedia page dedicated to Sgt. Pepper.

THE VINYL

Lightly played with minimal evidence of spindlewear, both sides of the LP retain all of their original gloss.
 
Bright, undamaged, Black and Silver Capitol Records "Rainbow" labels (please see photos).

Evident are some light marks, including sleevewear from the original paper inner sleeve, and a few shallow hairlines. There are no deep marks, and the tracks play cleanly with no skipping or sticking.
 
The record has been carefully handled, infrequently played, and the mono audio playback is impressive.

Side 1 :  EX - with a few shallow marks. We completed a playgrade (on both sides), and found some faintly audible noise on A-2 and A-3. 

Side 2 :  NM - no marks, and the playback is clean. 




THE GATEFOLD COVER - NEAR MINT

NM :  Please see photos / exceptionally well-stored / bright colors / there is some faint, partial ringwear on the back cover / sharp corners / no edgewear / all of the seams, including the spine, are intact / no writing, paper loss, stains or dirt.

The insert is also NM, and the inner sleeve is in fine shape although it shows some ringwear (please see photos).


There are a number of markers present (including the deadwax matrixes (please see below) that distinguish this 1st Edition Pressing from later pressings. Here are some of them:       


The first monaural pressing, distinguished by the title of the song 'With a Little Help From My Friends' shortened to 'A Little Help From My Friends'. (Source: 'The Beatles Swan Song' compiled by Bruce Spizer.)

The label is black with colour band around it.

The cover is made out of thick cardboard and includes a gimmick cut-outs insert.

No locked groove after "a day in the life".

Label typesetting by Bert-Co, Hollywood.

1st catalog number on the back cover, 2nd on the labels, 3rd on the jacket spine and inside gatefold
