Based upon my research this particular album is from January 20th 1966. This was a later revision. When the first pressings were released song times for Long Tall Sally and I Call Your Name was not included. A correction was made in either 1964 or 1965. Then in 1966 the Beatles switched their performance rights society from ASCAP to BMI. Capital's Scranton manufacturing facility contracted "Keystone" to reprint labels for them. When Keystone reprinted the labels they misspelled "I Call Your Name". As you can see they spelled it "I Call You Name". This error was quickly corrected thus making this one of the rarest Rainbow Label Beatle LP's. Not only did they misspell a title but they also left off the song times for "I Call You Name" & "Please Mister Postman"!  No one knows exactly how many of these copies were released. It's not the kind of thing a company like Capital keeps track of. I'm sure they were plenty angry when it happened. One thing is for sure this particular combination of errors is extremely rare.

Now onto the grading of this LP. The vinyl I would grade as "GOOD". In record collecting terms the word "Good" refers to a record that has experienced lots of wear. A record in such a category will also have surface noise and light to moderate scratches. I played this on my Technics 1200 turntable through a high quality RIAA certified phono preamp.  

The jacket is VG+ with minimal corner wear, no seem splits, slight yellowing, small bubble in lower right hand corner, light ring wear, small water stain in back corner. Includes original sleeve

This record is not being sold as a mint copy from yesteryear but rather one of the rarest Capital "Rainbow Label" Beatle LP's you will find. Another signifigant aspect to this offering is the fact that this is not a bootleg, artificially aged record or counterfeit copy. This record along with the other Beatle albums I've either sold or are selling were owned by a Beatle fan who experienced Beatlemania first hand. I think that is most signifigant. Every once in a while you'll see a "sealed copy" of some album show up. Where did that LP dwell for most of it's existance?  In a cold warehouse?  This LP was held by a Beatle fan and I think there is some magic in that. This fan no doubt would have noticed the errors and probably compared their copy to their friends'. They didn't seem to mind though because they didn't return them to the store. Perhaps they knew how rare this LP truly is. Keep that and all I said in mind when you place your bid.

Correction Please Mr. Postman has the song time indicated. I didn't see it on the next line. I Call You Name definately is missing the song time. Sorry about that oversight.The missing song time is not the reason for this album's rarity though.

I'd like to add another thing about the rarity of this copy. When the album was first released in 1964 most of the records released had missing times for "I Call Your Name" &  "Long Tall Sally". I'm talking about 2 million copies in 1964 alone! Some time in 1964 or 65 the error was corrected. Then according to the author(Frank Daniels) of the "Capitol Albums" a further revision was made. He confirmed to me this information came from Capitol Records. It was then that the album I offer to you was created. "I Call Your Name" was misprinted.This error was not widespread since it was caught early on(probably during a quality control check, after the labels were affixed to the vinyl, or even as the factory worker fed a machine with labels). I've come across a small handful of these albums and they have the time code penciled in by the factory. Scranton did not mark the album I offer to you thus making it extremely rare.
