Description
This is an auction for The Beatles LP, Rubber Soul.
This was released by Parlophone records in 1965 and has catalogue number PMC1267. This is the 2nd press with a black and yellow label with "The Gramophone Co Ltd" and "Sold In U.K." label text. This also comes with a Ernest J. Day sleeve and is mono. Please check the pictures for clarification.
Matrix: XEX 579 5 XEX 580 5
Condition: The sleeve has some tiny lamination creases seen on the front cover and some light discolour marks seen on the rear, also with very light buffing to the very corners and lastly on the rear top left corner a pen mark can be seen. Otherwise its fine, spine & edges ex, no tears, bends or creases, lamination at mouth fine, flipback edges ex, No fingering indentations, a nice crisp sleeve and graded at a conservative VG+.
This comes with its original inner sleeve which has a few discolour marks but is otherwise in fine condition.
Both labels are clean and look near new, under a strong light a few spindle trails can be seen on side one and some spindle trails can be seen on side two, there are also a few finger marks on each side. Curious spindle trails on this as they appear to actually be scratch marks on side two that have left an impression, I suspect the spindle this was placed on was pointed thus leaving the marks it has. The centre hole shows a touch of wear, please check the pictures on supersize, nice labels.
The vinyl retains its new shine and looks new. Under a stong light a couple of tiny feather scratches and a couple of dust marks can be seen. I have of course given this a test play through both sides and was pleased to find that this plays superbly well. The above mentioned feather scratches and dust marks are completely non-audible. Stunning quiet breaks and entries, strong audio with no distortion, fading or dragging heard whatsoever. No surface noise to report on either side with the music playing perfectly and certainly with very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. This does not appear to suffer from any reduction due to wear despite side one being played little more than a few times .
The audio is just about as good as you can find it and certainly plays at Near Mint, I have graded this at VG+, simply down-graded because one side has been played more than a few times and it does have a couple of feather scratches, no doubt Near Mint by most other traders. If your buying for sound quality this one is for you, a collectors item, from my collection to yours.
A fine addition to any collection.
