I am offering this very rare mat that features the likeness of the Beatles' "Rubber Soul" album cover. This item was "released" by Capitol Records in 1974 as a promo item celebrating the groups' 10th anniversary. I was fortunate to be working at Capitol at the time and was able to aquire one. It has been in my possession ever since. How rare is it? Good question. Over the last few years I have "Googled" this item several times and have never gotten a "hit" on it. The closest I've come was a similar item that came in red background instead of the blue. The mat is 26" wide x 18" tall - typical size for a small welcome mat although I can assure you this mat has never been walked on or stepped upon. The composition of the mat is typical of what you might get with an auto floor mat. Most of its' life has been spent in closets or other out of the way places. Still, it has accumulated a "dirtiness" about it and could use a gentle cleaning. Pictures have been provided that show some scuff marks on the rubber border. There are also 3 places on the rubber edge that have small slits the largest being about 1.5" long. These were caused by ageing (38 years old). I thought the original full size picture I took was a little misleading so I added another one that compares a white sheet of paper to the white on the mat to give a truer expectation. Of course, the mat when new was never the white of a sheet of paper, but the original picture is not as bright as it appears.
