THE BEATLES - RUBBER SOUL LP - 1ST PRESSING LOUD CUT AND 2ND PRESSING MATRICES - MONO

This mono copy of Rubber Soul has an unusual mix of matrix numbers which I have not seen described anywhere before.  The Side 1 Matrix is XEX 579-4 and the Side 2 Matrix is XEX 580-1 (see photos).

This Mono record has the following first pressing characteristics on both labels:

• The standard yellow block writing Parlophone labels
• The "All rights of the manufacturer" message around the edge of the labels starting with "The Gramophone Co. Ltd."
• The labels DO have "Sold in the U.K..." statement.

BUT THIS RECORD HAS

• Side 1 matrix: XEX 579-4 (second pressing)
• Side 2 matrix: XEX 580-1 (LOUD CUT first pressing)
• Side 1 stampers: 4 G MG
• Side 2 stampers: 1 LH

I believe this may be a copy made while the manufacturer was changing over from the first pressing LOUD CUT to the second pressing, which I expect would make it extremely rare.

The sleeve is also the rare Ernest J.Day & Co. version.

I have tried to take the best photos that I can of the matrices.  The photos are clear enough to show the numbers though the lighting and maginification makes the record surface look worse than it appears in natural light.

• Catalogue Number: PMC 1267
• Side 1 Matrix: XEX 579-4.
• Side 2: Matrix: XEX 580-1.  The embossed 'KT' tax code is visible on the center of the Side 2 label.
• Side 1 Stampers: 4 G MG
• Side 2 Stampers: 1 LH
• Record Grading: Good.  Visible marks on surface.
• Sleeve Condition: Good apart from a hand written "699" on the reverse.  No tears or significant creases.  Mono is printed on the top right hand corner. "Printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd London" is printed on the bottom right hand corner on the reverse of the sleeve.
• Extras: Old (not Emitex) dust jacket is inside the album cover.  The record is now in a new white paper dust jacket.

The grading of the record was determined by an independent record dealer I consulted.  The grades were based mainly on a visual inspection with a few plays to check any scratches of concern.

I also had the dealer professionally clean this record using a Keith Monks Record Cleaning Machine to ensure that it is being offered in its best possible condition.

Postage and Packing rates vary depending on the number of records purchased and the country of delivery.  Please note a double LP counts as two records.

• Purchases of three records or less sent within the UK will be mailed First Class.
• Purchases of four records or more sent within the UK will be mailed by Royal Mail Standard Parcel Service.
• Purchases sent to Europe will be mailed by Airmail.
• Purchases sent outside Europe will be mailed by Airmail unless the cheaper but much slower Economy rate is specifically requested, in which case I will pass on the postal saving to the buyer.
• In all cases I will retain proof of postal despatch and postage cost.
