Description
PARLOPHONE RECORDS
1966s FIRST MONO PMC 7009
Not strictly a first pressing as this was the withdrawn release with matrix XEX-606-1. However that was quickly withdrawn and the new "first" pressing was released. What makes this rare is that it has the "SOLD IN UK TEXT" on the label. Later issues DO not have this. Also this release had the mis-titled "DOCTOR ROBERT" title on the label instead of the much more common Dr Robert of later issues. Strangely it has DR ROBERT on the sleeve. Moreover this disc has a rare label variant. Nearly all of the releases have the singer credited BEFORE the writers so you would see ELEANOR RIGBY - Paul McCartney (Lennon - McCartney) BUT NOT THIS ONE. It has ELEANOR RIGBY (Lennon- McCartney) - Paul McCartney
Matrix marks XEX-605-2 & XEX 606-2.
Disc = audio & visually easily EX+ A beautiful example.
Sleeve is better the EX but not quite EX+. Spine is strong and legible with no damage to the printing,
Garrod &Lofthouse Patents pending sleeve and original Emitex inner.
Nearly 50 years old now and extremely difficult to find in this condition.
Look at how little spindle wear there is !
and on all the other sides too !!
