Description: Excellent copyof the Original 1969 First Pressing vinyl MONO LP. 
Please Please me is the debut studio album by The Beatles - their first offical LP release. For the only time, the mono version was issued 6 weeks before the stereo version. This album contains the "A" and "B" sides of their first two singles, plus 10 new songs, all recorded in one incredible session at E.M.I. Studios, Abbey Road.

The Vinyl is in impeccable condition, playing beautifully throughout. The Flipback Sleeve has a small tear halfway across the bottom, and has a 4cm biro mark on the back cover. The front cover is almost flawless, with only very minimal age-wear.

FIRST PRESS INFO

First pressing. March 22, 1963. Matrix numbers: Side 1: XEX 421-1N; Side 2: XEX 422-1N.

The first pressing has Ernest J.Day & Co. front laminated cover, withlarge “mono” on front. The photo credit for the front cover: “Photo Angus McBean” is printed in the lower right corner. The text starts at the end of “s” in “songs”.

The first pressing has black label with gold print and “Parlophone Co. Ltd.” printed at the start perimeter print. “Dick James Mus. Co” incorrect publishing credit for “I Saw HerStanding There”, “Misery”, “Do You Want To Know A Secret” & “There’s A Place”.With or without tax code and with 33 1/3 on the label. Tax code variations: ZT, MT, ZMT.Polythene-lined “Use Emitex” die-cut inner sleeve. (Second labelvariation of the first pressing has a circular groove. This circular groove was the result of the use of the old stamp machines. This groove may appear on side1 or side 2.

SLEEVE: VG

The Front Cover is in excellent condition, retaining its original strength, colour and shine. There are minor creases on the bottom edge and three corners have been slightly scuffed, the top right hand corner also with a small crease in after the word “mono”, measuring 1cm approx. In summary this front cover is strong, vibrant, undamaged (age-wear only), and very impressive. Please see photos.

The Back Cover is in very good condition. There is no discolouration with only slight wear on the left-hand open edge, visible only up-close. Towards the top-right there is a biro mark which looks to have been a signature that has been crossed out, measuring 4cm across. The bottom flipback edge has a clean tear nearly half way across, which creates a flap, however the strength in the sleeve / flipback edge does not allow this to hang down. Please refer to photos.

VINYL: EX

Visual: Under inspection; Side 1 has many (possibly up to 40) very light surface scratches, only visible under a lamp or when holding it by a window under direct sun-light. Side 2 is the same (many light surface scratches visible only under inspection) with 1 slightly larger more prominent mark approx. 2.5cm long, which in no way affects the sound. Side 1 label is near-perfect with only very minor spindle marks, and with the tax code MT still visible. The gold lettering retaining its original quality. Side 2 label shows slightly stronger spindle marks, contained within 2mm of the hole itself. There is a small scratch above “PARLOPHONE”. The Vinyl is perfectly flat from all angles - no warping. Audio: An outstanding version of this extremely rare Please Please Me 1st pressing. There is a distinct sound clarity and quality throughout, with almost no background noise whatsoever, even between tracks. The one imperfect moment comes in “ANNA” between verses 1 and 2, where a short, medium loud rhythmic crackle occurs 6 times over, within the space of 8 seconds. Otherwise this LPis flawless, and beyond that – produces a exceptional top-quality sound. Sublime considering the age of this Record (55 years).

INNER SLEEVE: EX

This original Emitex inner sleeve is in fantastic condition – no rips or even wear, only creases from around the edges of where the vinyl has been sat.

Overall a superb and remarkable original 1963 rare 1st pressing of The Beatles’ first album.

RETURNS POLICY 
With the exception of a few very rare records which are particularly sought after,we will only sell vinyl in Mint, Excellent or Very Good condition. GRADING SYSTEM 
Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet. booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records marked as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable
Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc
Fair (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratched, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing
Bad (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
