The Beatles Collection boxed-set of original UK-configuration Beatles vinyl albums was released in numerous countries and territories. The New Zealand (NZ) edition has a few peculiarities which sets it apart from the editions released in the UK, Australia and the USA.
The most striking feature of the NZ set is the colour of the box itself; while most territories replicated the dark-blue of the UK set, the hue of the NZ box is a few shades lighter.
The front image of the sleeve of the NZ pressing of With The Beatles is presented in duotone and apparently represents the original intent for the sleeve image.
NZ pressings of The Beatles (aka, the 'white' album) were never issued with the four photographs of the lads.
The version of Rarities that came with the NZ set is the U.S. Capitol Records edition and not the U.K. edition which Australia included in the latter's boxsets. The two editions featured a different selection of tracks. The NZ Rarities disc bears NZ-manufactured 'Capitol' labels (see provided images).
This set is in excellent condition in vinyl, labels and sleeves. The inside gatefold of Rarities has a slight horizontal blemish of 2 to 3 cms in length and a few millimetres thickness. The sleeve of The Beatles has a few bumps which cannot be described as damaged. The integrity of the spines of all sleeves is solid. The box has taken a few knocks here and there (see images) but there are no holes and no splits to all-important corners (the NZ boxes are considerably hardier than the Australian counterpart).
A great starting-price for a terrific set of vinyl Beatles LP's from New Zealand.
