THE BEATLES ON CAPITOL STAR LINE BLUE LABEL
From November 1981 to June 1983, Capitol Records reissued all Beatles singles on the blue Star Line label. This label can be identified by the “Star Line” logo printed in white on the top of the label. In the rim print in white ink it says “Mfd. By Capitol Records Inc. A Subsidiary of Capitol Industries, Inc.”
There are three types of the blue Star Line label:
1. 1. The first pressing (1981) erroneously printed “stereo” on both sides of the single. In fact, the singles were pressed in “Mono.” This type has the "A" prefix in the record matrix (for example, “A-6297” for the Yellow Submarine single). This type is rare.
2. 2. The second pressing (1981) corrected the error in the first pressing. These singles say “Mono” on both sides. This type also has the "A" prefix in the record matrix.
3. 3. The third (and final) pressing (1981-1983) say“Mono” on both sides. This type has the "X" prefix in the record matrix (for example, “X-6291” for the Yesterday single).
