This copy ticks almost all the boxes for rarity!

WOW!!! For sale is a true piece of rock n roll history!! This is the very first release by The Beatles and an original, earliest red label example including the MADE IN GT. BRITAIN text and also with the Ardmore and Beechwood text aligned all the way to the right which were the very FIRST red labels made! This was quickly changed to have the Ardmore and Beechwood text more centered to the left.

Also and most importantly, this copy has incredibly LOW stampers - 1P on Side One and the nearly impossible to find LOWEST AND EARLIEST JR on Side Two!!! The JR stamper supposedly stands for Journalistic Review and is even earlier than a coveted 1G!! The JR stamper was used for the original giant A/ McArtney demos which sell for thousands and a handful of the very first 45's were pressed for sale or demonstration used the same stamper. There isn't even a mother number on JR stamped discs! I cannot stress the rarity or importance of the JR stamper! There are ZT tax codes stamped on both sides and the RARE and odd WOZT tax Stamp also embossed around the spindle hole on Side Two!

This was most definitely one of the first discs to be pressed for sale or possibly to be given as a demo in 1962, a full two years before their landmark debut in America and pressed well before the actual release! At the time this was pressed, really only their hometown of Liverpool knew The Beatles and following the release of this single and their follow up and first number one hit in the UK - Please Please Me, they would go on to achieve massive stardom in the U.K. and in 1964 would conquer the USA and eventually the world!

DISC: The disc itself is in VG condition with several hairlines and sleeve marks under a bright light and a few superficial, light scratches and scuffs. It isn't a perfect looking copy but in very suitable condition that plays very well with no major problems. No skips or jumps with only some crackling which I'm sure would benefit from a good professional clean. JR Stamped copies are often in poor condition so this is nicer than most other copies I have handled. For the sake of thoroughness I will mention there are two very tiny "chips" on the edge of the disc which are barely noticeable and have ZERO effect on playback. I'll include a photo of these. They're barely worth describing (most sellers probably wouldn't even mention it) but I want to highlight any and all flaws so you know EXACTLY what you are getting. The disc lays perfectly flat as the day she was born on the turntable.

LABELS: EX+ The labels are in outstanding EX+ condition!! No writing or unwanted marks which are so common on vintage records, no fading or wearing away of the silver text which also often happened to these in particular. They are nearly perfect with only a few light spindle marks which is sooooo difficult to find on these early 1962 copies. Often, some of the silver will have worn off and red will show through but here the silver text is bright and strong with no fading. These are some of the nicest labels I've ever handled on these rare red labeled Beatles singles of which there were only two- Love Me Do and Please Please Me. All subsequent singles and reissues of these two used the black and silver labels or eventually, Apple.

SLEEVE: This copy comes housed in its original, correct 1962 "Type 2" striped sleeve which is in VG+ condition remarkably with NO splits on any of the seams! There are some creases and wrinkles as is to be expected on these fragile thin paper sleeves that are now 55 years old and some faint writing in light green ballpoint ink (a title written on the rear side and a small number written in the two blank spaces which was for that very purpose of writing catalog numbers)

Again, owning this is owning a true piece of rock 'n' roll history. The Beatles are without a doubt the biggest and most influential band in rock and their original records will only increase in value - especially rare and earliest examples like this one, making it a sound investment. This copy is suitable for playing or would look fantastic in a frame! If you are a Beatles fan, this is a must have or would make the perfect gift for that Beatles lover in your life. We all have at least one don't we? ;) If you don't have upwards of $10,000 for a "large A McArtney" promo disc, this is the next best thing with Side Two using the exact same stamper as those unbelievably rare and impossible to get ahold of "true demos".

I take great care in packaging records and the disc will be placed into a generic inner sleeve behind the original to prevent splitting and tucked snugly behind two cardboard stiffeners and mailed in a sturdy cardboard mailer. "MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
