An immaculate conception
Here’s one of those Beatles fan pressing that barely ever turns up. It’s said that this Lp exists because of a bit of indiscretion on the part of John Lennon. Back on March 10, 1969, engineer Glyn Johns put together an acetate of rough mixes and versions of songs that would, one day, be released as 'Let It Be.' Then John Lennon brought a copy of it with him to Canada and it somehow leaked out, working its way from station to station, airing on WKBW in Buffalo and WBCN in Boston in September of '69.
There were so many copies floating around that it even got reviewed in college newspapers and the underground press. It seems everybody had a copy of the sessions and they were issued under names like “Get Back,” “Kum Back' and even this one “An Immaculate Conception.”
The contents varied from collection to collection and all were rough mixes of songs that would mostly come out in far more polished versions very soon.
This particular pressing is one of the rare ones. It’s got a blank jacket with this large 10” x 10” sticker applied to the cover, far more ‘artistic’ than the other rubber-stamped cheapos. It’s on the I.C. Records lable.
