THE BEATLES

“A HARD DAY’S NIGHT”

WOW!! RARE and hard-to-find original High Fidelity MONO very first press released in Chile in 1964 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records), catalog number LDC-36506, with machine etched matrix numbers XEX 481-3N 2N (“N” inverted) 2 in Side A and XEX 482-3N 2N (“N” inverted) 2 in Side B, with pale red wine (maroon)/silver labels with big unboxed Odeon Records logo!!! Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND!!! An authentic very first edition of “A HARD DAY’S NIGHT” released in Chile!!! As you must know, this record has an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, only used in Chile, and it’s one the rarest editions worldwide!!! A must for Beatles collectors!!!

“A HARD DAY’S NIGHT” was originally released in 1964 and the same year it was released in Chile, but like in most of the cases of that period, we got this album with an UNIQUE COVER made of 2 single sheets of paper attached (not glued) to a thin cardboard for front and back cover and kept together for an outer plastic bag which’s also part of the cover. But in this copy the outer plastic bag and inner cardboards were removed by some past owner. Front cover has an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, only used in Chile, with album title written in English and Spanish and Odeon Records logo at top left corner. Back cover is also totally different, with album title written in Spanish and English, “Canciones de la película YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, PAUL, JOHN, GEORGE Y RINGO (A HARD DAY’S NIGHT) (La noche de un día agitado)” (Songs from the film Yeah, Yeah, Yea, Paul, John, George and Ringo) and with a complete review of the movie and the songs of sides 1 and 2 written in Spanish only. It’s interesting to see that in back cover the sides are identified as “Faz Uno” and “Faz Dos” but in labels they are “A” and “B”. In back cover the tracklist is in English, translated to Spanish, but in labels the tracklist is in English only with the title of the album written in Spanish only. It’s also interesting to see that in front cover the title is “A HARD DAY’S NIGHT (YEAH YEAH YEAH) Canciones de la Película”, in back cover is “Canciones de la película YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, PAUL, JOHN, GEORGE Y RINGO (A HARD DAY’S NIGHT) (La noche de un día agitado)” and in labels it’s “Canciones de la Película “¡Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. Paul, John, George y Ringo!” (A Hard Day’s Night)”. So, yes Sirs, this is really one of those finds you don’t see so often, one of the original copies of this famous album released in Chile in 1964 with an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all The Beatles collectors worldwide, one of the rarest album covers by The Beatles!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG- or VG condition, clear and clean, no writings, with some general wear, little rips and creases in all edges, with evident age browning and marks of humidity in back cover, with some light fungi marks in front cover, more evident in the face of John Lennon and a little blemish in the teeth of George Harrison, but nothing serious as you can see in the pictures, the back side of each sheet of paper was recently repaired with some white paper someone glued in 2 edges and it has worked very well to preserve the edges solid. The record is not so thick like other copies I had and it’s in great VG- or VG condition both sides, still glossy and clean but with loads and loads and loads of scuffs and hairlines and scratches of all sizes and in all directions, which don’t affect play at all, at first sight you will wonder if the record will play properly, but “don’t judge a book by the cover”, these old records were made to last. Labels are in VG- or VG condition the side A, with some general wear, some tears, residues of some white kind of dust and moderate spindle hole wear, with a name written, and in VG or VG+ condition the side B, clean and clear, with very light wear and minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is the best part of this record, it’s in strong VG+ or EX condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with light constant crackles between tracks and occasional pops and clicks here and there, more evident in the silent parts and between the tracks, which of course don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end, sure most of songs play in absolute EX+ or even NM- condition. I’d recommend a professional vacuum cleaning anyway, maybe the sound could even get better. Overall a record that after more than 50 years keeps still a decent look and an amazing sound quality which won’t disappoint anyone, NO SKIPS, NO REPETITIONS, NO DISTORTIONS at all!!! Sure this record isn’t for Minty minds or audiophiles, but keep in mind this is one of the RAREST RELEASES of “A Hard Day’s Night” worldwide with an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, only used here in Chile!!! Yes Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a copy of this RARE record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile.

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
