Description

Offered is this shrink-wrap sealed US copy of the Beatles '65 album, Capitol ST-2228 (released Dec. 15, 1964). I believe this is a first pressing.

On the front is a price sticker, a "Stereo" sticker, and a round blue sticker (probably put there by the record store which sold it). All of these stickers are outside the shrink wrap. The cover has the glued-on front slick.

Without actually seeing the record, you can see the edge of the orange "Teen Set" inner sleeve (visible in the third picture). This was used from late-1964 through mid-1965, and clearly dates this album to that period.
There is no number near the RIAA logo.  It is said that this indicates an in-house Capitol printing, but beyond that, I don't know. It does have the early stereo needle warning on the back.

There are three "breather holes" in the shrink wrap.  Two are on the front along the "Beatles "65" banner, one at the bottom of the first "E" and the other is below the apostrophe.  One is on the back, at the left upper corner of the Meet The Beatles LP cover image.

The following issues with the cover are noted:
There is a hole and a piece of the shrink is missing in the area of "ATL" in the front cover banner. Also, there is a tear upward from the breather hole to the left, a small tear at the bottom of the "T" and another next to the apostrophe (10th and 11th pictures). It appears that some dirt has entered through the hole and the surface feels rough below the "ATL" and down to the top of Ringo's umbrella.

There is a piece of the shrink missing between Ringo and Paul, and a gouge into the cover on Ringo's right shoulder (last picture).
At the record entry edge, there is a 1-1/2 inch separation in the shrink exposing the inner sleeve, and bit missing on the front (3rd picture).
Viewed from the back, at the bottom left, is a light crease about 2 inches long and a small hole in the shrink just up from the corner (6th picture).

The two corners at the top and bottom of the record entry slot have minor bruises, the other corners are fine.

Overall, there is ring wear affecting the shrink mainly on the front (but not the cover inside). There is some minor spotting to the white areas of the cover inside the shrink.

Though not perfect, this album presents well, and would be at home in any quality Beatles or general record collection. This is the third of 4 sealed Beatles albums that I purchased as a lot 25-30 years ago, and all came from the same store based on the stickers that were used.

This will be shipped in a Bags Unlimited "Mighty Music Mailer", which gives outstanding protection especially to the vulnerable corners.

This is an auction, I am not taking offers. It will sell to the highest bidder at the end of one week. No returns if the record is opened.

Thank you for looking and good luck!
