THAD JONES "Detroit-New York Junction" Blue Note 1513 Mono Vinyl LP.
This is the original, flat-rim 1956, deep-grooved, "RVG"-etched THAD JONES "Detroit-New York Junction" Blue Note 1513 mono pressing on the 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note Records BLP 1513. "P" or "Ear" in deadwax. Musicians include Jones, Billy Mitchell, Kenny Burrell, Tommy Flanagan, Oscar Pettiford, and Shadow Wilson.
Light surface noise can be heard on both sides of this disc, but as with all first pressing Blue Note LPs, the incredible tone, dynamics, texture and transparency of the recorded instruments surpasses any surface noise or defects. Consistent pops or ticks audible. The 1500 Series is a perfect example of RVG's supercharged engineering, with dynamics and tone off the charts! Side 1, many long scratches, none feelable. Side 2, ditto for length-one feelable, and two small feelable scratches. Labels are clean with minimal spindle marks. The laminated Frame Cover is in good shape, good gloss, no spine or seam splits. Water damage and peeling, lower right front. The 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21 back jacket also shows water damage visible bottom seam, right corner and back bottom seam, left corner. Some peeling. This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters).
