Description

Incredibly rare private JAZZ / SOUL / FUNK lp here. The Texas Southern University Jazz Ensembles "Tribute" LP. ORIGINAL on Advent Records. A Tiny private label, not many of these around for sure. Came out in 1971 or 1972 Very hard to find ORIGINAL. Great stuff. This is the last TSU JAZZ ENSEMBLE recording under the supervision of Ralph Hampton and features tenor sax solos from Arnett Cobb on two tracks, and a solo by Ronnie Laws (!) on "Ju-Ju Jones." Vocalist Anita Moore shines throughout and E.J. Leonard breaks out with some Leon Thomas-esque vocalising on "Black Roots." Includes the legendary Kashmere Stage Band as well. 8 tracks in all. Vinyl is EX- (looks like it has never been played. Picture cover is still in the original shrink, has a couple (3 total) of small marks in the upper right hand corner of the front cover. Very minor.
